Description of what is sought, in the requester's hand, reproduced as supplied:
I filed a request at this counter on click 11 of this galaxal, in my own name, and I would like it withdrawn. I do not want an answer to it. I have not wanted one for a good while now and I would rather it was not sitting somewhere still owed to me.
The form asks what it was about. I am not going to write it down a second time, and
that is thenot writing it down is the whole of my difficulty, so I am hoping the date and the name will do. I was told at the counter that they will do. Please take it out.Then when it is out, please do not keep the taking out. I can hear how that sounds. I am not asking anybody to do a job twice. I am asking for it to be done the once, and for no note to be made of it.
It is eleven clicks. I know that without counting, though I did count, because I am the sort who counts. I was in a poor way that year and I have not been in a poor way since. I have a trade, and a roof that is mine, and a woman who puts up with me, and the boy. There is nothing left over from that year that anybody can put a hand on, excepting the one thing, and the one thing is in this building.
I have brought the date written down in case I say it wrong out loud, which I have already done twice today.
I have a boy at home who is nine and who reads everything there is. Jars, tickets, the back of other people's letters, the tin. I asked at the counter whether anybody at all can walk in here and be handed a thing, and the answer was yes, and it was given plainly, and it was the right answer, and I have not slept properly since.
I will pay what it costs, and I know it will not be nothing. I am not making a complaint and there is nothing to complain of. Please.

Enquiry was made of the office that maintains the schedule, and the reply is at enclosure C. The retention schedule is not amended at the counter.
A withdrawal is a record of a request. A record of a request is a holding. The repository holds no procedure for the destruction of a holding, and that is a statement about procedure and not about permission.
Scope of the search. A class III search is a search of a series. The series searched is series 2, the request register, at volumes 6 and 11. An item file is not a series and is not searched under this class. Nothing further was searched, and nothing further was requested.
